KDHRC Staffers Present at Georgia Public Health Associations’s 90th Annual Meeting

–May 2019

The Georgia Public Health Association held its 90th Annual Meeting and Conference in early May in Atlanta, GA. KDHRC staff members attended and delivered 30-minute workshops on five different projects. Two of our promotores training programs were on the agenda: 1) Dientes Fuertes, Vida Sana (DFVS): a bilingual, culturally competent promotores training program to prevent primary tooth decay in Latino children, and 2) Puentes: an online professional development course prototype for promotores to conduct outreach to Latino parents of children with special health care needs. The remaining topics we presented on included:

  • MIMICT: Evaluation of an educational program for healthcare providers to increase minority patient referrals to lupus clinical trials
  • AVOID: Vape prevention messaging for youth aged 12-16
  • RCCI: Evaluation of an online support resource for older adults with cochlear implants

Our staffers had a great time connecting with other public health professionals and learning more about public heath promotion efforts across the state. We look forward to future meetings of the Georgia Public Health Association!
