Andrew received his B.S. degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University. His career in research began in the field of psychology conducting evaluations for literacy interventions tailored to assist children with disabilities and mentoring programs serving youth considered at-risk. In addition to these research experiences, Andrew worked for several mental health clinics/communities as an assistant case manager and physical wellness coach.

These experiences taught him the value in identifying evidence-based practices that promote healthy outcomes, and the changes that can occur in people’s lives when given the support they need to thrive. Wishing to engage such supports on a macro level, Andrew pursued a dual MSc in Public Policy and Human Development from the United Nations University in Maastricht, NL. At UNU, he completed a joint specialization in Social Protection and Migration Studies.

He considers himself lucky to have come across KDHRC and was thrilled at the opportunity to use the quantitative skills he gained to work on meaningful public health projects with larger potential reach. Andrew enjoys a good challenge and with the diverse array of projects at KDHRC there is always something new to learn. His favorite parts of working at KDHRC are brainstorming ideas and solutions for research, using data to detangle social issues and assess program effectiveness, and coordinating with a brilliant team that genuinely cares about each other and the integrity of their work.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys wandering new places and cultures, hiking and exploring nature, working out/playing basketball, writing, and creating music.
