KDH Research & Communication proudly announces the launch of the Todo Promotores Clearinghouse (TPC), a resource for nonprofit organizations to formulate, implement and evaluate promotores programs that provide health information and services to low-income Latinos. Promotores’ outreach can improve the health and well-being of Latinos, particularly in low-income communities, in culturally sensitive ways. But the growth and interest in promotores programs in recent years has created a pressing question for nonprofit providers of how to effectively develop and execute these programs and understand their impact. TPC aims to answer that question.
Developed with input from key leaders in the field and informed with research on best practices, TPC includes a publicly available website (www.todopromotores.com) with comprehensive educational courses for nonprofit directors and frontline staff to learn how to successfully execute promotores programming at their organizations. TPC also includes a library of video interviews, case studies, and hands-on materials for nonprofit organizations to use promotores effectively in their work. TPC’s “From the Field” feature showcases promotores and other community health workers (CHWs) discussing cutting-edge service delivery issues in Latino communities from their real-world experience.
TPC differs from traditional CHW training resources in the integration of its online, interactive community via the TPC Facebook page. Social media, digital connectivity, and engagement are integral parts of daily life, and the TPC Facebook page allows all nonprofit practitioners interested in promotores programming to share their views and experiences and learn from one another on a community-based and scientifically informed digital platform.
