We believe that anyone can acquire, apply, and benefit from new information if it is presented through channels that engage and empower.
- KDHRC leadership has experience with all models of social marketing, and has led initiatives in campaign development, strategic planning, collateral development, and evaluation.
- For instance, KDHRC is a partner to the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, one of the largest social marketing efforts in the United States. Our role is to provide behavior change expertise and input into the strategy, research approaches and concepts at the heart of the campaign.
Research and evaluation
KDHRC uses scientifically rigorous methods to collect information and conduct research. Our senior staff has expertise across many types of evaluation approaches, such as:
- Using primary and secondary data to identify evidence-based approaches
- Using qualitative and quantitative research methods to conduct needs assessments and product and program evaluation
Product development
We use theory-based approaches and established empirical methods to develop products. Based on the goals of the project, KDHRC tailors research-based information to the needs of the target audience and presents that content in creative and engaging ways.
- Sample products: Print and multimedia curricula, print collateral, CD- ROMs, board games, web-based learning, videos and training products
- Sample audiences: Children, youth and teens and parents; minority, underserved and low-literacy populations; professionals, policymakers and academic audiences
Multimedia applications
When applied skillfully, technology can enhance people’s ability to understand complex information. KDHRC is adept at producing cutting edge, multimedia approaches to information dissemination.
- Sample products: Web and CD-ROM-based learning applications, advertising and video, new media and gaming
- For example, KDHRC is supporting the National Institute of Drug Abuse’s Brain Awareness Week activities by developing an online quiz game for youth. The objective of this game is to increase knowledge about scientific advances pertaining to addiction as a brain-based disease.
